A good work truck in the ArkLaTex needs to do it all — haul equipment through muddy job sites, tow heavy trailers, and look respectable at the job site. When Bowie County contractor Mike Tanner decided to build his ultimate work rig, he started with a 2020 F-250 Power Stroke and didn’t hold back.

Lift & Suspension

A 4-inch Rough Country suspension lift with new Bilstein shocks gave the F-250 the height needed for 37-inch Nitto Trail Grapplers on 20×10 XD Rockstar wheels. Total lift/wheel package: $3,800 installed.

Work Upgrades

A Dee Zee aluminum flatbed replaced the factory bed, adding a full-length toolbox, headache rack, and gooseneck hitch — all while saving 300 pounds over steel. The flatbed opens up more usable bed space for pipe, lumber, and equipment.

Performance Tuning

A custom EFI Live tune on the 6.7L Power Stroke bumped output to an estimated 500 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Towing capacity increased to a reliable 28,000 lbs — more than enough for any trailer Mike pulls on East Texas job sites.
