What car would you want when the zombie apocalypse arrives? Sure, you could hop into some war wagon like a Hummer H1 or a Mercedes-AMG 6×6, but can they drive themselves to you? A Tesla Model 3 with the Tesla Smart Summon feature may actually be the better way for you to make your getaway from the walking dead.
Using your Tesla app, if you’re within 200 feet of the car, you can use Smart Summon to guide your Tesla to you. Just hold your finger on the spot on the map where you want the car to go, and it will drive to you (or it will stop earlier if you lift your finger off before it reaches the destination). Zombie in your way? No worries. Smart Summon is programmed to avoid anything in its path as the Tesla autonomously makes its way to you.
Initial Tesla Smart Summon real-world testing has been a little scary so far, with owners finding several bugs and other small issues, mainly around the GPS tracking and how it interacts with its surroundings—especially when it comes to faster-moving objects like bicyclists, which Tesla has called out as a concern. But when it comes to zombies, who slowly stumble around looking for tasty human flesh, you should be fine.
Before you take off, though, make sure no zombie has made their way into the back seat when the Tesla Smart Summon feature brings the car to you, or you could be a tasty snack if you’re not careful. Ask us how we know, and happy Halloween!
